NORTH WILKESBORO – Blasting operations will take place on the U.S. 421 superstreet project in Wilkes County next week.
From 9 – 11 a.m. Oct. 14, crews from Branch Civil Engineering will perform blasting operations on the south side of the U.S. 421 work zone near the intersection of U.S. 421 and Winkler Mill Road Ext.
Law enforcement and contract crews will direct traffic through this area immediately before blasting operations commence. Drivers can anticipate short delays for safety during these blasting hours.
These operations will take place over the next few months, only during daytime hours and when weather permits. This is part of the initial grading and utility work necessary for the roadway improvements.
Message boards will be set along U.S. 421 and U.S. 421 Bus. to inform motorists of these times and any changes.
Motorists are reminded to use caution when approaching the work zone and utilize DriveNC.gov for real-time traffic information.
