Avery Sheriff’s Office: Vehicle Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

On July 20, 2024 Deputy Cyle Hicks, with the Avery County Sheriff's Office, was patrolling the area of Elk Park and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. A search of the vehicle, with the assistance of K-9 “Ghost”, located a controlled substance inside the vehicle.

The driver, Jimmie Bryan Crumley of Roan Mountain, Tennessee was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Crumley was transported to the Avery County Detention Center and is being held under a $50,000 secured bond.
