Update Press Release from Avery County Sheriff's Office Monday Feb 21 –
On 02/20/2017 at about 6pm, deputies from the Avery County Sheriff’s Office and NC Highway Patrol were conducting traffic stops looking for an escapee from Carter County work program. Officers noticed a vehicle trying to avoid the traffic checking station and stopped the vehicle. Once stopped officers conducted an investigation and found 14 grams of cocaine, 7 MDAM (Ecstasy) pills and some marijuana along with $6,142.00 in cash.
Arrested were Alan Wray (34) of Charlotte NC and Kaleena Braswell (33) also of Charlotte.
“$6,142.00 cash, 14 grams cocaine and 7 MDMA pills (Ecstasy) and some marijuana.” That's the headline coming out of the Avery County Sheriff's Office on Monday night via their Facebook page. Sheriff Kevin Frye tells WataugaOnline.com that it was a great night for his department.
