The Avery County Schools system has announced they will dismiss early on the first day of school, to allow students the opportunity to make it home before the solar eclipse later in the afternoon.
On Monday, August 21st Newland Elementary will dismiss at 11:30am and all other schools will dismiss at 12pm.
