ASHE COUNTY, NC – Due to increased flu activity this season, Ashe Memorial Hospital has implemented updated flu season safety prevention measures effective January 1, 2026, to protect patients, visitors, and staff.
Visitor Age Restriction
No visitors under age 13 are permitted unless for a scheduled test, procedure, or Emergency Department visit. This restriction is designed to protect both young visitors and vulnerable patients during the heightened flu season.
Masking Guidelines
Masks are strongly encouraged for patients and visitors, especially if experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness.
Stay Home If Sick
The hospital urges the public to stay home if sick with fever, respiratory symptoms, nausea, or vomiting. Individuals should not visit the hospital while experiencing these symptoms to prevent the spread of illness.
Hand Hygiene
Visitors and patients are asked to use hand sanitizer at entry and exit points throughout the facility.
Vaccination Encouraged
Ashe Memorial Hospital encourages everyone to get vaccinated for flu and COVID-19 to protect themselves and others in the community.
The hospital emphasized that these temporary measures are necessary to keep patients, staff, and the community safe during this period of increased respiratory illness activity.
“Thank you for helping us keep our patients, staff, and community safe,” the hospital stated in its announcement.
