Ashe County Animal Control has issued a rabies alert on Friday (August 15, 2025)
“We have received confirmation of rabies activity in our region.”, the alert stated. The alert was for the entire Ashe County area.
The alert advised to take the following precautions to protect your pets, livestock, and family:
Keep pets’ rabies vaccinations up to date
Avoid contact with wild or unfamiliar animals
Do not handle sick or injured wildlife
Supervise pets when outdoors
Report any suspicious animal behavior to Animal Control immediately
