App State Police Chief, and Director of Public Safety, Andy Stephenson will leave that position at the end of the month, according to Interim Chancellor Dr. Heather Norris.
Dr. Norris made the announcement in her weekly newsletter update that comes out each Friday. Stephenson will join the UNC System’s Safety and Emergency Operations team at the end of the month.
Stephenson was named to the role in May 2017 and took on the position on June 19, 2017. He created the App State Police Academy and Cadet Program, with the first class graduating in 2022.
Dr. Norris also announced that Capt. Johnny Brown will serve in the role of Interim Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety until a permanent Chief is named. Brown is beginning his 23rd year at the university.
