…AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT SUNDAY NIGHT…

The North Carolina Division of Environmental and Natural Resources has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Alert for the High Country of North Carolina, namely the four northwestern most counties of North Carolina, for Particulate Matter. This Alert is in effect until 1200 AM Monday morning.

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality in Raleigh NC has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Fine Particulates for Avery, Mitchell, Yancey, Madison, Buncombe, Henderson, Haywood, Jackson, Swain, Graham, Macon, Transylvania, Caldwell, Burke, McDowell, Rutherford, Polk, and Alexander Counties, until midnight EDT Sunday night.

An Air Quality Alert means that Particulate Matter concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.

Code Orange air quality means that children, active and older adults, and people with heart, lung or respiratory diseases should all reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion.
