BOONE — After a two-day course taught by two Babe Hair Extensions Instructors, 28 of our WHS Cosmetology students earned their certification in hair extensions. They worked extremely hard and maintained professionalism throughout the course.

WHS Cosmetology teachers Angie Alexander and Torry Loftin shared how proud they are of these students.

“Words cannot begin to express how proud we are of these students,” Alexander said. “They listened, learned, and implemented that learning into the completion of four types of extension services. Every day I am amazed that I get to teach these awesome students, and every day they never stop amazing me. Most of the time, I feel that they teach me much more than I teach them. It is an honor to be one of their teachers. None of this could have been possible without the support of our CTE staff. With a few more weeks to practice the timing, we will be ready to add this to our service menu.”

“Every day, I am beyond amazed at how talented our students are,” Loftin said. “We are so blessed to work and learn at a school that supports CTE classrooms every single day. 28 of our students spent two full days taking in every bit of information they could gather from our wonderful instructors, and it paid off. The students again amazed us! This was an unbelievable opportunity for these kids, and we are beyond grateful.”

WHS students who earned their certification in hair extensions are Jayden Arnette, Alixas Clark, Aracely Espinosa-Mejia, Anahi Gonzalez-Larios, Cadence Greene, Jordin Greene, Chloee Marsh, Katie Matheson, Keira Mckibbin, Patience Michael, Gabriella Miranda-Lopez, Kara Schneider, Jacquelyn White, Savanna Canter, Piper Corey, Madelyn Gilliam, Kara Harmon, Lilly Hofferth, Mariela Miranda-Lopez, Maeven Isenhour, Kailey Jones, Maleia Moretz, Lilly Pennington, Keeley Brown, Zoey Hansen-Burrows, Peyton Faulkner, Sophia Weaver and River Miller.

Several of the students shared what the experience was like for them.

Zoey Burrows-Hansen said, “It was interesting to see the art in the extension process.”

Aracely Espinosa-Mejia said, “I feel it has prepared me to be more successful from the beginning of my career.”

Kara Harmon said, “I loved it, and I loved learning all the different ways to install the extensions.”

Jayden Arnette said, “We can now have a bigger, better and brighter future in this industry because of the education we received in our class.”

Their instructors were National Babe Extension Educator Amanda Mank and Master Regional Educator at Babe Hair Extensions Jess Woods. Mank traveled to Watauga from upstate New York and Woods traveled from Mooresville.

On March 3, they learned how to install and remove hair extensions using the tape-in, silicone beads and fusion methods. On March 4, they learned the sew-in method and became officially certified.

WCS appreciates our Career and Technical Education Department for sponsoring this unique and extremely beneficial opportunity for these students.
