Residents and visitors are highly urged to allow plenty of extra travel time, as what is considered to be the single busiest traffic weekend for the High Country is here.
The Valle Fair in Valle Crucis, the Woolly Worm Festival in Banner Elk, and the peak time for leaves changing will once again bring an influx of motorist into the area all at the same time. In years past an ASU home football game was sometimes scheduled for the same weekend, but it has been at least 5 years since all three occurred on the same Saturday.
Motorist are highly encouraged to leave for your destination early, allow plenty of time to get to your destination, expect traffic tie ups and delays, and use a lot of patience.
