A Sunday afternoon earthquake was recorded near Millers Creek in Wilkes County.
The 2.1 quake was centered at 2.1 miles west southwest of Millers Creek and 22.5 miles east of Boone at 3:10 pm, according to the United States Geological Society.
The last time an earthquake was recorded in Wilkes County was Saturday July 23, 2016 11:49pm when a 2.4 magnitude, centered 3 miles southwest of Millers Creek, 21 miles east southeast of Boone occurred.
