Motorist in Watauga County may have noticed four area gas stations under going a make over late last week. Wilco Hess stations all across the region, state and east coast have either already finished the transformation process or are scheduled too.
Speedway LLC, a subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum Corp, announced the purchase of Hess stations last year. The Ohio based company announced on Sept. 30, 2014 the acquisition of Hess retail operations, and related assets, for 2.82 billion dollars. Before the deal WilcoHess operated more than 350 convenience stores and travel plazas, as well as 37 travel plazas mostly in North Carolina and Virginia, but also in Alabama, Georgia, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
The three Boone Hess stations, and the Blowing Rock location, were closed for short time last week undergoing re-branding.
