BOONE, NC – On the heels of their first Sun Belt Conference championship in school history, the Appalachian State University Football team departs Tuesday for Montgomery, Alabama, to participate in the 2016 Raycom Media Camellia Bowl.

The Town of Boone, Downtown Boone Development Association, and the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce have arranged a community sendoff for the team Tuesday, December 13th, at Noon in downtown Boone.

Fans, downtown merchants and customers are encouraged to wear their Black & Gold, bring flags, and display signs as they line King Street at 11:55am. The convoy of buses will depart Kidd Brewer Stadium at Noon, turn left on Rivers Street, and progress to King Street, where they will ride the length of the downtown business district.

App State used their supportive local fan base to their advantage in 2016, posing a 5-1 record at Kidd Brewer Stadium in front of a Sun Belt-best average of 26,153 fans per game. The Mountaineers have posted a 14-4 mark at The Rock since joining the Sun Belt in 2014.

The Mountaineers face Toledo in the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl, Saturday, December 17th, at 5:30pm on ESPN. Bowl tickets can be purchased through the App State Athletics Ticket office by calling 828-262-2079 or visit appstatesports.com for more details. Tailgate packages are available through the Appalachian State Alumni Association at alumni.appstate.edu.
