…WIND ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 1 AM EST
MONDAY…
…HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 7 PM EST MONDAY…

* WHAT…For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 25 to 35 mph
with gusts up to 45 mph expected. For the High Wind Warning,
northwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.

* WHERE…Avery, Yancey, Mitchell, Caldwell Mountains, Burke
Mountains and McDowell Mountains Counties.

* WHEN…For the Wind Advisory, from 7 PM this evening to 1 AM
EST Monday. For the High Wind Warning, from 1 AM to 7 PM EST
Monday.

* IMPACTS…Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be
difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… Occasional gusts up to 60 mph are possible
across the higher peaks above 5000 feet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.
