Wednesday Storm Knocks Out Power To Small Sections Of The County

The Wednesday storm that lead to Flash Flood Warnings for both Watauga and Avery also knocked out power in Watauga. High winds, lightning and tree limbs in power lines lead to the outages of 184 Blue Ridge Electric members.

Outages began at 4:26 pm on Wednesday, July 27 and linemen had all power restored by 9:54 pm that evening, according to Renee Whitener with Blue Ridge Electric. Areas affected included Sherwood, NC Hwy 194, Willow Creek, NC Hwy 221 South and Blowing Rock.
