Valle Crucis School Dedication Ceremony Set for May 16, 2026

WATAUGA — Watauga County Schools and the Watauga County Commissioners are pleased to announce a formal dedication ceremony for the new Valle Crucis campus on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The address for the school is 2736 Broadstone Road, Banner Elk, NC.

The event is open to the public with special guests invited to attend. Guests are encouraged to arrive as early as 9:30 a.m. to allow time for parking and seating.

The outdoor ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the traffic loop located at the front entrance of the school. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the gym.

Scheduled speakers are Superintendent Dr. Leslie Alexander, former Superintendent Dr. Scott Elliott, former BOE Vice Chair Mr. Steven Combs, BOE Chair Dr. Gary Childers, BOC Chair Mr. Braxton Eggers and Valle Crucis Principal Dr. Bonnie Smith.

Following the guest speakers, ribbon cutting and plaque recognition will take place.

The dedication ceremony will conclude with Valle Crucis School students leading guests in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by tours of the new campus.
