Sidewalk Project Underway In Downtown Boone To Help Pedestrians And Motorist

Last Updated on July 7, 2015 7:29 pm

Motorist traveling through downtown Boone may notice a newly started construction area in front of the Jones House.

Virginia Falack, with the Downtown Boone Development Association, says that the town is removing the existing sidewalk and will be replacing it with a 7 foot wide walk that will incorporate a brick border. Workers will also be installing 4 new street/sidewalk lights as well as two bulb outs. She adds, these bulb outs will be installed on both sides of Grand Blvd. which will assist in helping motorists as they turn left or right onto King St. The bulb outs will contain planters for small shrubs and flowers.

Construction is expected to take four to six weeks to complete.
