(Here's the latest information about some road projects in our area via email from a local DOT official)
194 between Valle Crucis and Vilas – Contractor has completed one culvert and is approximately half way on the second one. There is still one additional culvert to construct after the second is complete. Probably be complete sometime around September 2011.
194 between Valle Crucis and Banner Elk – Contractor is still working a full schedule laying pipe, grading, and starting to construct retaining walls. They have until June 2012 to complete this project.
321 repaving between Boone and Blowing Rock – Had a preconstruction meeting last week with contractor. They will start on patching/repair operations first on other roads before starting this job. We (DOT) are waiting on a schedule from the Contractor at this time as to what they plan on doing first.
321 below Blowing Rock – Had a final inspection on the last section at the bottom at Kirby Mountain Road. Should be complete within a week!
