Last Updated on November 26, 2013 5:12 pm

Line technicians with Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation completed repairs around 8:30pm Tuesday night for full power restoration to the 1,100 members that lost power at 3:49 p.m. due to a damaged underground cable.

Affected members were located in the Bamboo community of Watauga County. Members may have noticed some “blinks” as linemen completed their work.

Blue Ridge Electric remains on high alert status, ready to respond if further outages occur. The cooperative has called in assisting crews so that any outages can be restored as quickly as possible. In addition to line technicians, member service representatives and other personnel are on standby tonight to serve member needs if outages begin.

Members should report all outages by calling the cooperative’s PowerLine at 1-800-448-2383.

Outage status is available at any time by viewing the cooperative’s online outage map at www.BlueRidgeEMC.com. The outage map includes information about the number and location of outages. Outage updates during severe situations is also available on the cooperative’s social media sites: www.facebook.com/blueridgeemc and www.twitter.com/blueridgeemc.

The public is also warned to stay away if they see downed power lines. These lines can still be energized and therefore dangerous or even deadly! Only a trained line technician should ever go near a downed power line. Please report fallen power lines to Blue Ridge Electric as quickly as possible.
