BANNER ELK – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will perform nighttime closures of N.C. 105 between Broadstone Road and Old Danner Road Thursday evening.
Beginning at 7 p.m., crews from Wright Brothers Construction Company Inc. will stop traffic intermittently for no more than 15 minutes at a time to manually remove materials and rocks for slope stabilization.
Beginning at 9 p.m., the closures will extend to no more than 30 minutes at a time until the full reopening of the road the following morning at 6 a.m.
No blasting is associated with this temporary closure.
On-site flagging crews will be in the area directing motorists.
These operations are a part of a project to replace the 69-year-old bridge over the Watauga River and realign the intersection of N.C. 105 and Broadstone Road.
Drivers should expect delays and use caution when approaching the work zone.
