*update from NCDOT release Wednesday April 4, 2012*
While the road widening preparation work on U.S. 321 through Blowing Rock continues at a steady pace, there are no road closures currently scheduled along the state highway that leads to Blowing Rock and area attractions.
However, motorists along U.S. 321 may continue to encounter short-term lane closures between the Shoppes on the Parkway and Green Park Inn. These short-term closures do not affect the entire road, allowing motorists to get through the work zone with brief delays.
There will not be any lane closures on the project during Easter weekend. This timeframe is defined as between 6 a.m. on Thursday, April 5 and 6 p.m. on Monday, April 9. The contractor may do work that does not involve lane closures during this time.
NCDOT anticipates that the Blowing Rock area will have increased traffic for the upcoming Blue Ridge Wine & Food Festival, scheduled for April 11-15, as well as the opening day of Tweetsie Railroad on April 13. While U.S. 321 remains open to traffic in both directions, motorists may encounter short-term lane closures during these special events.
