On March 6, 2014, Gov. Pat McCrory ordered all North Carolina state flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of North Carolina Senator Martin L. Nesbitt, Jr.
Flags were ordered half staff from sunrise on March 7, 2014 and should return to full staff on sunset on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.
Senator Nesbitt passed away on March 6 and represented Buncombe County in the North Carolina Senate since 2004 and was a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives for 11 terms.
