Multiple departments were called to two different structure fires on Sunday.
The first occurred at 5:35 am at 1655 Blackberry Road, according to Watauga County Fire Marshal Shane Garland. The first arriving crews from Blowing Rock Fire discovered heavy smoke and flames. There were several occupants in the residence but no injuries were reported, according to Garland.
There was extensive damage to the structure and the fire is under investigation.
Agencies responding were from Blowing Rock, Boone, Cove Creek, Foscoe, Meat Camp, Deep Gap, Watauga Medics, and Watauga Fire Marshal’s Office.
The second call of the day, involving multiple departments, occurred at 10:08 pm at 526 Council Ward Road. The first arriving crews from Beaver Dam Fire discovered heavy smoke and flames. There were occupants at the residence at the time but no injuries were reported, according to Garland.
The cause was determined to be a chimney fire. Agencies responding were from Beaver Dam, Cove Creek, Fall Creek, Watauga County Fire Marshal, Watauga Medics, and Watauga Rescue.
