10pm – Still some scattered reports of slick roads. Updated information starting around 5am Tuesday morning here on the site.
9:16pm – Avery County Schools are closed for students tomorrow (Jan 3). Watauga Schools are still on holiday break.
8:27pm – Getting word that 221 in Ashe, around Twin Bridges (Lemly Hill) is being shut down to get the road salted.

8:20pm – Old 421 below Mack Brown Chevy is beginning to get slick
8:15pm – snow covered roads on Castle Ford to 194 heading in to Boone…blowing snow, periods of low visibility in gusts, median lines covered up, and slippery in spots.
8:10pm – Wilkes County – 421 near Brushy Mountain road… snowing hard and beginning to cover road
8:09pm – Roads in downtown Boone are partially snow covered
7:47pm – Howard's Creek is covered, at least the lower portion of it, it's not too bad, just use caution. – per facebook
7:42pm – Report of roads in Mountain City, TN are slick
7:33pm – 421 in Trade, TN snow covered
7:25pm – “Howard's Creek Rd has a light covering of snow on the ground and the road.” per facebook
7:30pm – ”Highway 67 in Trade, TN totally covered. There was no snow when we got home 20 minutes ago.” – per facebook
7:25pm – Old 421 in Deep Gap reported snow covered per police scanner
At 7pm snow fall has picked up and some items (porches, car windshields etc) starting to get white. No reports of slick roads in Watauga yet but in some parts of Ashe it is a different story. Here's two pictures from Radio Hill in West Jefferson via facebook.
