Town of Boone, North Carolina— The Boone Town Council congratulates Chancellor Heather
Norris on her recent appointment as Chancellor of Appalachian State University. During her
tenure as Interim Chancellor, Chancellor Norris has strengthened the relationship between the
Town of Boone and the University, demonstrating a deep commitment to the Boone community.

The Boone Town Council greatly appreciates Chancellor Norris’s dedication to fostering a strong
partnership and collaboration with the Town of Boone—a commitment that has only grown since
her appointment as Interim Chancellor. Trust and communication between both entities have
significantly increased, and we look forward to continuing this partnership.

During Hurricane Helene, Chancellor Norris provided exceptional leadership, guiding
Appalachian State University through unprecedented challenges while prioritizing collaboration
with the Town of Boone and other community partners. The Boone community as a whole could
not have navigated the post-hurricane recovery without the vital partnership among Appalachian
State University, the Town of Boone, Watauga County, and other key stakeholders.

The Boone Town Council warmly invites Chancellor Norris to attend upcoming Town Council
meetings to further strengthen the ever-growing relationship between the Town of Boone and
Appalachian State University. We believe that by working together, we can continue to build a
community that benefits everyone.

Sincerely,
The Boone Town Council
