Information to know for Thursday’s funeral services for Sgt. Chris Ward & K-9 Deputy Logan Fox

What: Funeral services for Watauga County Deputies Sgt. Chris Ward and K-9 Deputy Logan Fox.

Where: Holmes Convocation Center on the Appalachian State campus.

Time: Doors will open to the public at 1 PM. Services begin at 3 PM.

Parking: Public parking will be available at the Rivers Street parking deck, the Peacock Lot, First Baptist Church lot, Horn in the West lot, and the Stadium parking deck – according to Austin and Barnes Funeral Home.

Hampton Funeral Service is also offering the use of their parking lot and their grass lot across the street from the funeral home in front of the park.

Broadcast/Streaming: The services will be streamed on Facebook on the Watauga County Emergency Services page and at AppTV. The Facebook page of Watauga Online will also be sharing that feed. A replay option will be available for those that can't view it live.

Procession: The North Carolina State Highway Patrol Caisson Unit will carry the caskets from Center Street, turning onto Rivers Street and to the Holmes Center prior to the services beginning.


Watauga County offices will be closing at 12:00 noon and reopen as regularly scheduled on Friday, May 7, 2021.

Town of Boone offices will be closed beginning at 1:00 p.m. Offices will reopen at regular time on Friday, May 7th.

Watauga County Schools will dismiss early. K-8 will dismiss at 12 p.m. and Watauga High School students will be dismissed at 1 p.m.

Town of Blowing Rock offices will be closed beginning at 1:00 p.m. Offices will reopen at regular time on Friday, May 7th.
