Blowing Rock to Host Community Q&A on Deer Ticks Aug. 21

Last Updated on July 31, 2026 1:43 pm

The Town of Blowing Rock will hold a community meeting on deer ticks Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. at the American Legion, located at 333 Wallingford Street beside the parking deck.

Town officials said the meeting is a response to concerns residents raised about the prevalence of deer ticks in the area during a recent Town Council meeting.

N.C. Wildlife Officer Devon McGuire and Wildlife Biologist Jason Smith have been invited to discuss deer ticks and related issues currently facing the state. The meeting will give residents an opportunity to ask questions and receive information based on the concerns raised.

Because Blowing Rock is a pet-friendly community, the discussion will also cover the importance of protecting pets from ticks.

The American Legion offers nearby parking and will provide ample time for discussion, according to the town.
