Groundbreaking For New Meat Camp Fire Dept

The Meat Camp Volunteer Fire Department has broken ground for a new facility. On Sunday May 6 fire department officials, residents and business owners gathered for the ceremony, according to the Watauga Democrat.

Among those on hand were long time fire official George Winebarger. Winebarger praised the opportunity to finally move forward on a new facility which will be located at 4797 Hwy 194 North.

Bobbitt Design Build of Raleigh will be the general contractor. The paper adds that Vice President and Senior Project Developer John Kelley remarked he had never seen such a large turnout for a groundbreaking.

Building construction will begin by June 1, with projected occupancy by year's end.

Meat Camp serves the largest area of any fire district in the county.

Donations for the building project are tax deductible and can be be made to Meat Camp Volunteer Fire Department and mailed to Larry Carroll, treasurer, 200 Dell Coffey Road, Boone, NC 28607.
