Flood Advisory for Watauga & Ashe until 8:30pm – Thursday Sept 10, 2020

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

  • Flood Advisory for…
    Southwestern Ashe County in northwestern North Carolina…
    Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina…
  • Until 830 PM EDT.
  • At 519 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
    heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly
    in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Boone, Blowing Rock, Beech Mountain, Sugar Grove, Todd, Foscoe and
Ashland.

Additional rainfall of 0.5 to 1 inch is expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.

This includes the following streams and drainages…
Brushy Fork, Elk Creek, Grassy Creek, Grassy Gap Creek, George Gap
Branch, Dutch Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Call Creek, Cove Creek,
Craborchard Creek and Beech Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
