The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

  • Flood Advisory for…
    Southeastern Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina…
  • Until 715 PM EDT.
  • At 406 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is expected to begin shortly in the
    advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen, based
    on radar.

Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Blowing Rock and Aho.

This includes the following streams and drainages…
Flat Branch, Elk Creek, Little Dugger Creek, Dugger Creek and
South Fork Laurel Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
