Work is set to begin Monday March 30th on the Dewitt Barnett Road bridge in Valle Crucis. That portion of the road will be closed to traffic from March 30-April 10. Traffic will have to use Baird's Creek Road to Dewitt Barnett Road to access the closed portion. The bridge's beams will be replace and new flooring applied according to NCDOT workers at the site on Thursday. The bridge was last worked on in 2000 according to one of the workers. After the project is complete repaving will take place barring any delays due to weather.
