Friday December 20, 2024 – The 6th largest employer in Watauga County – #Walmart – re-opened this morning after being closed due to Helene damage. Other parts of the store expected to open in February 2025. Photos: Luke Turner
The Boone Walmart location will re-open on Friday, December 20, 2024. The store has been closed since suffering major damage from Hurricane Helene in late September.
The re-opening is scheduled for 8 am. Online reports and comments indicated it will be a partial opening, meaning not all foods or merchandise will be available. WataugaOnline is working to confirm what might be available and will update as more information becomes available.
