Avery County Schools will dismiss students for the summer on Friday June 3. Friday will be an early dismissal with Newland Elementary dismissing at 11:30 a.m. and all other schools at 12 noon. Graduation for Avery High School will be held on Friday, June 3 at 6:30 p.m.
A decision regarding having the graduation on the football field or in the gym will be made by 5 p.m. on Friday. The graduation will be streamed live from either location and the link can be found at www.averyschools.net
The Avery County Schools Child Nutrition Department is offering summer feeding sites that will be open to students 18 and younger at Newland Elementary School Cafeteria and Newland Pool. They will be offering free nutritious meals for breakfast and lunch each day, Monday through Friday, starting June 13th-August 12th. Also, Crossnore Elementary School will be open as a feeding site June 3th through 29th. There will be no food service on July 4th due to the holiday. Meal times for breakfast are from 7:30 – 9:00 A.M., and lunch from 10:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
