The Ashe County Sheriff's Office is warning of yet another scam going around the county. They are still encountering calls stating that an Ashe County Sheriff's Office officer is calling to collect funds. The number on the caller ID is coming up from a local line within the Sheriff's Office.
The caller is asking for funds to be paid to avoid charges. No Sheriff's Office will ever ask for funds to be paid over the phone.
If you get a call like this simply hang up and contact the Ashe Sheriff's Office to report the scammer, or your local Sheriff's Office if in another county.
