Crews from several agencies were dispatched to a woods fire in Boone on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire, 2.5 acres in size, was in the area of Winkler's Creek Road. Two homes were threatened but there were no damages, according to Andrew Harsey with the North Carolina Forest Service. There were no injuries and the cause is under investigation, he added.
Boone Fire, NC Forest Service, Watauga County Fire Marshal's Office, Watauga County Sheriff's Office, and Watauga Rescue were among the agencies responding to the scene.
