The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Wednesday and Thursday for the High Country.
The Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 7 pm Wednesday until 1 pm Thursday afternoon. NWS says that freezing rain and sleet are forecast, with total sleet accumulations of up to two inches. Ice accumulations up to one half of an inch.
Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Wind gusts of 20 to 35 mph at higher elevations will bring down trees limbs and power lines already weighed down with ice. The hazardous conditions could impact travel for the evening commute today and the morning commute Thursday., NWS adds.
The Flood Watch has been canceled as of 6:41 am Wednesday morning.
