Boone, NC – On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at approximately 11:34 p.m., Boone Police, Boone Fire, and Watauga County EMS responded to a reported motor vehicle collision involving two pedestrians in the vicinity of 1358 West King Street.
The investigation indicates that two pedestrians were walking along the roadway when a vehicle left the roadway and struck both individuals, causing potentially life-threatening injuries. The vehicle then left the scene.
The injured are identified as Joshua Dotson, 20 years of age, of Vilas, and Deedra McCullough, 29 years of age, of Boone. They were transported to Watauga Medical Center for treatment.
Boone Police officers processed the scene and recovered vehicle debris believed to have come from the vehicle involved. Officers are actively investigating this incident and working to identify and locate the vehicle and driver involved. Additional information will be released as appropriate.
