- WHAT…For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow expected. Total
snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches,locally high amounts around
Mt.Rogers . For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow expected.
Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches. For all areas…Winds
gusting as high as 45 mph. - WHERE…In Virginia, Grayson County. In North Carolina, Ashe,
Alleghany NC and Watauga Counties. - WHEN…From 6 PM this evening to noon EST Thursday.
- IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. Untreated roads will
be snow covered and hazardous. The hazardous conditions will
impact the morning commute. The cold wind chills as low as zero
could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. The
strong, gusty wind will also produce blowing snow which will
reduce visibilities and make for hazardous travel.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
