Residents in parts of the eastern section of Watauga County were impacted by a wide spread outage on Wednesday morning. According to Blue Ridge Electric the outages, from 9:53am to 10:03am, affected 56,059 Blue Ridge EMC members in the Deep Gap and Bamboo areas. A contract crew accidentally affected the service in the area they were working in, which lead to the outages. The outages also impacted part of the New River Light and Power service area in Boone.
