Watauga Native and Long Time Car Dealer Passes Away

A big piece of Watauga County automotive history was lost on Saturday with the passing of Mack Brown. Mr. Brown passed away Saturday morning at the age of 84. A native of Watauga County, Brown was not only the owner of Mack Brown Chevrolet and Mack Brown Inc., but had spent more than 60 years in the automobile business starting in 1949.

Mr. Brown was also very well known for his contributions to the area, both monetarily and with service as a member of the Shriner's, the Mason and a member of Ashlar Lodge.

According to Austin and Barnes Funeral Home, services will be conducted Tuesday at 1pm at Laurel Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Tuesday prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Laurel Springs Baptist Church.
