Governor Pat McCrory ordered United States and North Carolina flags to be lowered from sunrise to sunset on April 23rd on state facilities in honor of the seven U.S. Marines who were killed, and those wounded, as part of a training exercise on March 18, 2013, at Nevada’s Hawthorne Army Depot.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the seven Marines based out of Camp Lejeune who tragically lost their lives last month. I will attend a memorial service at Camp Lejeune tomorrow morning to recognize their dedication and sacrifice in protecting our freedom,” said Governor McCrory.

This follows the lowering of flags in tribute to victims of the bombing in Boston.
