BANNER ELK – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will continue intermittent nighttime closures on N.C. 105 for two evenings this week.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on the evenings of Tuesday (June 18) and Thursday (June 20) crews from Wright Brothers Construction Company Inc. will close N.C. 105 between Broadstone Road and Old Shulls Mill Road to perform a blasting operation followed by intermittent road closures to remove rock and debris.
Crews plan for the closures to extend to no more than 30 minutes at a time until the full reopening of the road the following mornings at 6 a.m.
Crews have successfully performed similar operations in previous weeks to replace the 69-year-old bridge over the Watauga River.
On-site flaggers will be in the area directing motorists.
Drivers should expect delays and use caution when approaching the work zone.
