Thursday structure fire claims life of Zionville resident

UPDATE Monday, February 21 4:56 pm from Watauga County Emergency Services:

At 3:32 am on 2/17/2022 Fire Departments from Zionville,Cove Creek, Beaver Dam, Watauga Medics, Watauga Fire Marshal’s Office, and Watauga County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 4712 Old US Hwy 421 N. in Zionville for a residential structure fire.

The fire investigation determined the cause to be accidental in nature. The Watauga County Fire Marshal with the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, Investigator’s do not have any evidence of foul play.

Sebrina Mains, 50 years of age, of 4712 Old US Hwy 421 N. was discovered deceased in the upstairs portion of the residence with two pets. 

The Watauga County Fire Marshal and the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office send their deepest sympathies to the friends and family of Ms. Mains.

An early morning fire in the Zionville community has claimed a life.

The fire, at 4712 old highway 421, was dispatched out at 3:32 am, according to Watauga County Fire Marshal Shane Garland. The first arriving fire crews found the second floor of the home fully involved. An occupant of the home did not make it out, according to Garland. The name of the victim has not been released as of Thursday afternoon.

Zionville Fire, Cove Creek Fire, Beaver Dam Fire, Watauga Medics, Watauga Rescue, Watauga County Fire Marshal’s Office, Watauga County Sheriff's Office and Blue Ridge Energy responded to the scene.
