Sunday Into Monday Power Outages Impact Parts Of Watauga & High Country

Some High Country residents were in the dark on Sunday and into Monday due to rain and high winds. At one point up to 2,000 Blue Ridge Energy members, across the entire service area, were without power, crews finished restoring power totally on Monday.

In Watauga County, 22 outages affecting 688 members were recorded from 11:21am Sunday until 9:04am Monday. Areas impacted were: Aho, Blowing Rock, Watauga River, Hound Ears, Elk Creek, Meat Camp and Todd.

In Ashe County, 25 outages affecting 678 members were recorded from 9:17am on Sunday until 9:55am Monday. Areas impacted were: Buck Mtn, Baldwin, W. Jefferson, Sheets Gap, Obids, Fleetwood and Ore Knob.

Portions of Alleghany and Caldwell counties were also impacted.
