On February 16, 2013, just after 6:00 AM, Boone Police Officers and Watauga County Sheriff’s Officers responded to 451 Yosef Drive in reference to reports of shots being fired inside an apartment. Arriving officers found that the suspect had discharged a firearm inside an apartment and then fled the area. As the suspect fled, he activated the building’s fire alarm system in an attempt to conceal his identity.
Officers from the Police Department and Sheriff’s Office located the suspect hiding inside a vehicle in the parking lot. The suspect was not compliant and had to be forcefully taken into custody. Arrested was Jacob Arnold Miller, W/M, 21 years-of-age, Boone, NC. Miller was charged with Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Dwelling, Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, Injury to Real Property, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Resisting a Public Officer, and Molesting a Fire Alarm. Miller was placed under a $75,000 secured bond pending a March 26, 2013, court appearance.
