Strong Storms Expected Friday

Damaging winds, large hail and a threat of isolated tornadoes is in the National Weather Service outlook for Friday.

Here's two graphics from the NWS Storm Prediction Center. The first is for Thursday May 31, and the second is for Friday June 1.

The NWS forecast calls for: Thursday Afternoon…Partly sunny with isolated showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 70s. Southwest winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight…Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the lower 60s. Light and variable winds. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Friday…A chance of showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning…then showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Some thunderstorms may produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 70s. Light and variable winds…becoming southwest 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 90 percent.

Friday Night…Mostly cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms likely… Mainly in the evening. Some thunderstorms may produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall in the evening. Cooler with lows in the upper 40s. West winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.
