Strong to severe storms will be the weather headline for the midweek.
Earlier on Tuesday storms producing small hail were reported in Boone, but the more intense action could be ahead. Scattered showers and storms are expected on Wednesday, with some possibly producing strong surface winds during the afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The entire Blacksburg NWS forecast area is under a Marginal risk for severe weather for Wednesday. NWS also notes that locally heavy rains are possible with some slow moving storms, which could lead to prolonged periods of heavy rain for some locations.
Thursday could shape up to be the better chance for isolated flash flooding, according to NWS. Widespread hazardous weather is not expected at this time, but more local and isolated storms will be the main concern.
