…A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of northwestern
Caldwell, Avery and northwestern Burke Counties through 300 AM EDT…
At 227 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Newland, or near Elk Park, moving southeast at 15 mph.
HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include…
Newland, Banner Elk, Elk Park, Beech Mountain In Avery County,
Crossnore, Sugar Mountain, Seven Devils, Grandfather Mountain State
Park, Linville Falls and B.R. Parkway-Linville Falls To Grandfather.
MAX HAIL SIZE…0.25 IN
MAX WIND GUST…50 MPH
