…Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of northeastern
McDowell, Mitchell, Avery, northern Yancey and northwestern Burke
Counties through 800 PM EDT…
At 717 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 6 miles east of Elizabethton Tennessee to 4
miles northwest of Burnsville. Movement was southeast at 35 mph.
HAZARD…Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include…
Spruce Pine, Newland, Banner Elk, Elk Park, Bakersville, Beech
Mountain, Crossnore, Sugar Mountain, Linville Falls and a portion of
the Blue Ridge Parkway.
