Section Of 105 Closed Overnight Due To Wreck

A section of 105 on Rock Crusher Hill was closed during the overnight after a fatal accident.

WJHL-TV reports that one person is dead, and two other passengers flown to Johnson City Medical Center. According to the report, a car was traveling southbound when the driver hit a guardrail, over corrected and the vehicle overturned several times. A female passenger in the back seat was ejected from the vehicle and killed.

Raquel Ramirez, 36, of 135 Antelope Run, Boone, was pronounced dead as a result of the crash, according to the Watauga Democrat. The report says that Ramirez was an unrestricted passenger in the backseat.

The names of the driver and other passenger have not been released. The North Carolina Highway Patrol tells the TV station that charges are pending.

The accident occurred just after 1am near Vulcan Materials, according to Watauga County Communications. One lane of travel was open just before 3:30am and that section of 105 was totally reopen just before 5:30am.
